Should lonnie donegan be inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame?

Skiffle!

My mother would probably say he should, if only for 'Does Your Chewing Gum Lose Its Flavour', but I don't think so!Should lonnie donegan be inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame?
For his influence on other artists such as The Beatles and Eric Clapton, maybe. As an individual artist?, I think there are far more worthy artists, bands that could be inducted.Should lonnie donegan be inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame?
I'm afraid he wasn't well-know enough outside England.Should lonnie donegan be inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame?
Considering he was almost single-handedly responsible for inspiring the people who launched the British Invasion of the 1960s, damned right he should be!

And from what Ive seen I believe em

Now the old boy may be barely breathing

But the heart of rock and roll is still beating

    In Cleveland... DETROIT!!!

Who thinks def leppard and motley crue should be in the rock and roll hall of fame?

yes bothWho thinks def leppard and motley crue should be in the rock and roll hall of fame?
I think Motley Crue should be inducted into the Most Likely Rock Stars to Be Carrying STD's That They Contracted From Frequent Sex With Groupies Hall of Fame.
If every song Motley Crue did was as good as Home Sweet Home then they'd be in.

Def Leppard should be in, I can name 15 good songs they did right now, they've sold 70 million records, and have 2 Diamond records(Hysteria, and Pyromania), and mean come on they're concerts in the '80s(I wish I was born then so I could see one of there epic in the round concerts and see Steve Clark)

here's all their good songs: Pour Some Sugar on Me, Photograph, Too Late for Love, Hysteria, Follin', Rock of Ages, Animal, Armageddon It, Gods of War, Two Steps Behind, Heaven Is, High and Dry, Bringin' on the Heartbreak, Love Bites, Lets Get Rocked, Rocket, Miss You in a Heartbeat, When Love and Hate collide, Have you ever needed someone so bad, Women.Who thinks def leppard and motley crue should be in the rock and roll hall of fame?
No. Small Faces aren't and they actually deserve it. Motley Crue and Def Leppard definitely don't deserve to be.
I support putting anyone and everyone into the hall of fame. Then maybe one day it'll finally dawn on people that it is all just a racket.Who thinks def leppard and motley crue should be in the rock and roll hall of fame?
yes. their are lots of bands that are better than all the people in the hall combined, but they haven't even been nominated.
Yeah, right. After they induct the other 300,000 METAL bands that DESERVE to be inducted
if anything, they should be kept from being inducted.
I do!! I love both of them and they have good songs.

If you could pick one band to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame?

who would it be and why?

Build a strong case for the band you choose.

The best reason gets the Best Answer =)If you could pick one band to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame?
    def leppard

Def Leppard wasn't just another '80s metal band. They were the '80s metal band. Hysteria is the best-selling rock album of that decade, selling over 20 million copies worldwide and spawning an unheard-of seven hit singles. That's more than most bands have in their career. For further proof that Def Leppard is a band with rare company, check this stat: Def Leppard are one of only five rock bands to have two studio albums that have sold over 10 million copies each in the US. Who are the other four? The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Van Halen. But unlike those other bands, Def Leppard's legacy is largely ignored, since people usually judge them alongside the many inferior bands that followed in their wake. But you shouldn't judge a group because of its soundalikes – if you did, Pearl Jam would be forever exiled because of Creed. Sadly, the Hall doesn't look too brightly at metal, no matter how polished and glossy it is
Queen, because the ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!! They completely changed music. If you listen to their first two albums and compare them to the music that was popular at the time, there is a major difference in style. Then immediately after those 2 albums music changed. New bands started coming out with music that sounded similar to the music on the first 2 Queen albums. Bands that were popular before Queen changed their style. For example, The Who did songs such as Talking About My Generation in the mid to late 60s, then after Queen they started doing a different style like the song Who Are You (which I think was definitely inspired by Queen). Also you can hear a difference in The Beatles' music before and after Queen.

Also, before Queen almost no one thought it was possible to combine rock and opera and yet Freddie Mercury did it with Bohemian Rhapsody. They are definitely the best band ever!!!!!!!!!! There's also a lot of other reasons why they should be inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Brian May is the greatest guitarist of all time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They had awesome harmonies!!!!!!!!!!!! Their songs were so diverse meaning it's not where you've heard one you've heard them all!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They had awesome music videos (come on, I'm Going Slightly Mad)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They wrote We Will Rock You and We Are the Champions come on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!If you could pick one band to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame?
    The Hollies

They have been eligible since 1989, that reason alone makes it ridiculous that they haven't been inducted. They were/are (there is still a lineup that tours) a great band!!

In the '60's they had more top 40 hits than any other band, except The Beatles! Their songs are well written, musically very sound, and distinctive. They are one of the bands that people came and went (Including Graham Nash!) and the sound may have changed but you can almost always identify it as a Hollies song. Even if you don't Know its a Hollies song, you would probably know the song (they Still play both Bus Stop and Carrie Anne at least once a day on the radio around where i live)

If you take a listen to I'm Alive, The Very Last Day, The Air That I Breathe, The Baby...they may sound a little dated but you can't deny how good they are!

They may not bring glitz and paparazzi and outrageous behaviour to the the awards ceremony (which, sadly, is kind of what i believe 60% of the decision is based on) but they would bring a career of Quality and good music.
    The Meters-My Hometown Favourite

The pre-eminent New Orleans funk band of all-time while serving as an in-demand self-contained studio backing unit for countless artists that kept them behind the scenes at their peak, much like Booker T. %26amp; The MG's had been in the 60's soul movement. Few groups were as respected for their skills as the Meters, they churned out some seminal instrumental hits and were as influential to their era and style as any group could be. At some point the voters have to realize this and admit them, the question is when.

    Huey Lewis %26amp; The News-

Though today they get little respect Huey Lewis %26amp; The News were among the most dominant artists of the 80's, both in singles and albums, utilized the video form as well as anyone in MTV's early days, and they helped define the decade musically with their back-to-basics rock style. For too long voters have used image as a determining factor with some candidates, and Lewis, who once said it was hip to be square, may fall prey to that at first, but 12 Top Ten hits are too big to ignore forever and so they should get in eventually.

    Jethro Tull-

One of the more popular progressive artists of the early 70's with two chart topping albums, decent singles showings (especially in England), a unique blend of styles and an enduring image as innovators. All that would normally be enough to get at least a nomination but they remain hamstrung by the lack of mainstream critical appreciation of the style itself. If that can be overcome they stand maybe the best overall chance at induction for a prog-rock artist

???If you could pick one band to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame?
    Rush

Rush have been entertaining people for 30+ years and are still going strong.. Their Music constantly changes as does their style and innovation.. They have influenced Bands that are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame right now..It only seems fitting that a Band that does such a thing deserves too be inducted as well....
Rush...yes, believe it or not, they're not in.

3 reasons: Geddy Lee: Besides being the most recognizable front man, he could also be the greatest bass player ever

Alex Lifeson: His signature playing style is legendary

Neal Peart: Only the greatest drummer in the history of flippin' everything!

    What?

    You need more reasons???

    Rush !

They have been a band since '68, put their first album out in '74 and have been rocking ever since ! In my opinion they happen to be one of the best canadian bands. Geddy is awesome on bass and has rather distinctive vocals. Why does the media hate this band ?

Also Neil Peart is a freakin awesome drummer.
    The Stooges

They basically invented punk rock and every punk band since then has been strongly influenced by them. They've also been eligible for about the last fifteen or so years and have been nominated a few times but have been constantly overlooked when it came to deciding who would be inducted.
    Alice Cooper!

Because he is not in there yet and he should be! He was the original shock rocker and his theatrics paved the way for other bands to come. I just really think he is a great all-around guy and he has written lots of songs - even for other artists. Still puts on great shows as well.
Judas Priest are basically the flag holders of metal. It's been nearly 35 years and revolutionized metal. They took what Black Sabbath created, and built upon it. I mean, aren't originators supposed to be honored?
Nirvana- They essentially launced alternative rock into the mainstream and re-invented rock music altogether. Nuff said. They'll get in within the next 5 years.
Yes, because they are they absolute Gods and Kings of Progressive Rock.

  • Besides "Velvet Turd" what rock and roll band names had no chance to succeed in the mainstream?

well you can never be sure, look at the Butthole Surfers. They get radio play!Besides "Velvet Turd" what rock and roll band names had no chance to succeed in the mainstream?
Besides The Sh!ts :http://www.myspace.com/theshitsband, Fecal Matter :http://www.myspace.com/fecalmatter and The Farts:http://www.myspace.com/thefartspunkrock (all real bands)... I'm still hoping The Vapors:http://www.myspace.com/thevaporsuk, will top out again since "I'm Turning Japanese" has made a comeback thanks to some recent Shaking, Waking %26amp; Baking in the orient !
I don't think there is such a thing. Consider this, Butthole Surfers had a mainstream hit even in the days before the internet. I think any name is possible as long as the music strikes a chord with at least a few people.

Edit: haha....just saw Mouth of Unknown's answerBesides "Velvet Turd" what rock and roll band names had no chance to succeed in the mainstream?
rape artists (because it rhymes with escape artist :o. why else would it fail. that's the only reason i can think of)

The Flying Burrito Brothers bridged the gap between rock and country during a turbulent time in our nation's history. I feel America wasn't ready for them, yet.
    Velvet Revolver is good band.

Here's a list of bad musicians:

    Countess Luann

    Rebecca Black

    Justin Bieber

    Miley Cyrus
