do you mean Surfin' Bird? that came out a little bit after Elvis, i remember that from the Dr. Demento show. Elvis and Chuck Berry are generally considered the founding fathers of rock n roll, but even then, you could argue it was Robert Johnson, or even Beethoven. that could be debated foreverWas "Bird is the Word" the start of rock and roll?
The first Rock n Roll song is generally thought to be 'Rocket 88' by Jackie Brenston in the early fifties. Jackie Brenston didn't actually exist and was actually Ike Turner of Ike %26amp; Tina Turner fame under an assumed name.

I think the beginning of rock started with "Rock around the Clock" by Bill Haley.
